Don’t copy the behavior or customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think…’  Rom.12:2 (NLT)’ It is an accepted fact that positive thinking and talking improve outlook, reduce stress, and improve self-esteem, but the passage says, “let God transform you.”  How can this be done?  By thinking and saying what God’s Word says about you, and your situation.  It is not enough to think positively; it is equally important to speak positively.

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences” Proverbs 18:23.

As you can see, this is a double-edged weapon that cuts both ways.  Those who talk positively reap positive benefits and those who talk negatively reap the same.  The choice is yours.  Let your brain be hard-wired for success by always seeing the vessel as half-full rather than half-empty.

God’s promises are the best tools for positive thinking and talking.  Learn to discipline yourself and stay with God’s promises even if all you see are obstacles and challenges.

Do you know that the only way to get rid of a negative thought is to think opposite and stronger thoughts? Have you ever stopped to reason that it is impossible to remove or erase a negative thought?  It can only be neutralized.  Think of it as an indelible marker.  It cannot be erased; it can only be overwritten by something stronger.

Some thinkers have estimated that every negative thought requires 7 positive thoughts to neutralize it. If this is remotely true, then you can see how desperately you need to flood your thoughts and speeches with the positive and eschew all negativities. Subsequent articles in this series will consider some of those promises of God that you can use to transform your mind. One of such is “I can do ALL THINGS (everything) through Christ who gives me the strength’ Phil 4:13
